U.S. Copyright Office Refuses To Register The ‘Carlton Dance’

It doesn’t seem like former “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” star Alfonso Ribeiro will get his signature dance move copyrighted.????CNN says Ribeiro has been in a lawsuit with video game publisher Take Two Interactive over games like Fortnight using his signature dance.

????However, a supervisory registration specialist with the US Copyright Office said the moves are "a simple dance routine."????Adding, "This single dance step is not registrable as a choreographic work.

Accordingly, your application for registration is refused."????Although his skills did get him crowned a Dancing with the Stars champion 2014, so he can’t be all that upset.
