China’s outbound tourism saw 149.72 million last year

The outbound tourism market grew at a steady pace  and the domestic market saw  a 5.5 billion visits last year.

 

This was 0.8 percent up  year-on-year and the Chinese mainland received 141 million inbound visits which increased by 1.2 percent year-on-year, with Myanmar, Vietnam and South Korea as the top three sources of visitors.

 

 

Last year China generated a gross revenue of 5.79 trillion yuan in 2018 and it contributed 11.04 per cent to China’s GDP.

 

 

As per the industry observers outbound tourism was getting more and more popular among the Chinese residents as they emphasized on high quality services.

 

 

Some $120 billion in 2018  was spent by Chinese travellers on tour packages, tickets, hotel reservations and shopping, with no comparative figure provided.

 

 

In 2018 China CYTS Tours Holding Co, a travel service provider headquartered in Beijing that helped process 1 million travel documents for mainland travelers. The five most visited outbound destinations on its platform were Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam.

 

Hong Kong occupies the top slot on mainland travelers’ wish lists for outbound travel and shopping reported Ctrip, an online travel agency in Shanghai.
