TRICHY: Lok Sabha deputy speaker M Thambidurai on Friday said there is no guarantee that he will get party ticket to contest again from Karur Lok Sabha constituency.
The four-time MP from Karur constituency has expressed willingness to contest again from the same seat. He vowed to work for party’s victory whether he would get party ticket or not.
“Anyone can contest in elections in a democracy, and I also have submitted application seeking party ticket from Karur,” he said on the sidelines of a meeting in Aravakurichi while meeting public and listening to their grievance.
“R Chinnathambi, father of health minister C Vijaya Baskar, has also sought party ticket from Karur. If he gets the party ticket, I will work for his victory. Whoever gets the party ticket, I will work for his victory,” he said.
Asked on alliance talks, he said he was not part of the committee set up to decide on pre-poll alliance of the AIADMK and so he could not comment.
Asked about anti-BJP remarks in the parliament, Thambidurai said raising voice for the welfare of Tamils in parliament should not be linked with alliance talks.
