Two thieves arrested; 32 cases cracked

Rajkot: Two thieves involved in 32 cases of burglaries were nabbed from Jamnagar Road in Rajkot on Friday. Police recovered Rs1.50 lakh cash and a car from the accused. The accused were identified as Rizwan Memon alias Bazigar (31), a resident of Khoja Chakalo locality in Jamnagar, and Rizwan Koreja alias Dani (28), a resident of Shetawad locality in Jamnagar.

“During interrogation, the accused duo confessed to having committed 32 thefts. Their modus operandi was to hoodwink shopkeepers and steal cash from the shops’ drawers. They said they had committed thefts in Rajkot, Jamnagar, Limbdi, Talaja, Gondal, Jetpur, Chotila, Sayla and Bawla,” said Mahavirsinh Jadeja, inspector of Rajkot crime branch.


The accused also revealed the names of their two accomplices, identified as Qadar Bajaria, a resident of Bhavsar Chaklo locality in Jamnagar, and Afridi Madakiya, a resident of Ghanchiwad locality in Jamnagar. “Memon, Koreja, Bajaria and Madakiya were caught several times on CCTVs of several shops where they had committed the thefts. We had been hunting for them on the basis of the CCTVs’ footages. When we received a tip-off about Memon and Koreja visiting Rajkot, we nabbed them,” added Jadeja.
