Three killed in pharma unit blast

Bharuch/Surat: Three labourers were killed and several others injured in a massive fire that broke out after an explosion in pharma unit in Ankleshwar GIDC early on Friday.
The incident happened in the bulk drugs making unit of Preeten Healthcare Pvt Ltd in plot C-1/7103 at around 3am. The cause of the explosion is still being probed, but it is believed that large quantity of chemicals and solvents accelerated the fire that spread in the entire plant.
It took around four hours for the fire brigade to bring the flames under control.
The deceased were identified as Jayesh Raval, 21, Kanaksinh Patel, 29 and Shiv Bansal, 25.
P R Gadhvi, police sub-inspector, Ankleshwar GIDC police station said, “Condition of one worker is stated to be critical. The chemical plant of the unit was completely charred.”
Government agencies like director of industrial safety and health and Gujarat Pollution Control Board are investigating the reason being the blast.
