107 pistols seized following his arrest, claim police

A 30-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly supplying illegal firearms. The police claim to have recovered 107 pistols following his arrest, they said on Thursday.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Pramod Singh Kushwah said that the accused has been identified as Ramzan, a resident of Uttar Pradesh’s Mathura. “On Wednesday, an information was received that Ramzan would come to deliver a consignment near DND flyway. A trap was laid and he was apprehended. A total of 10 illegal pistols was recovered from his possession,” Mr. Kushwah said.

During interrogation, he allegedly told the police that he had to deliver the consignment to a resident of Meerut and had procured it from Madhya Pradesh’s Barwani.

“On his instance, a car containing 97 semi-automatic pistols — which were to be supplied in Mewat — was seized from Mehrauli- Badarpur road,” he said.

Police said that they have identified the network which is supplying firearms. “The source of the pistol is a manufacturer in MP and the receivers are in Mathura who further supply the weapons to criminals of Haryana and western UP,” Mr. Kushwah said.
