Drone Scare Grounds Flights at Dubai Airport

Dubai airport becomes the latest in a series of global hubs to cancel flights because of nearby drone activity

DUBAI—Dubai International Airport, the world’s busiest international hub, briefly suspended flights Friday because of the suspected presence of a drone, the latest in a string of global airports to have to ground flights because of illicit unmanned aircraft operations.

Flight departures from Dubai International, which handled around 90 million passengers last year, were suspended between 10:13 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. local time due to suspected drone activity, said a spokesman.
