Mumbai: A 28-year-old man was arrested for assaulting two photographers in Bandra Reclamation on Thursday evening. The police said that Shakeel Khan and his associates attacked the photographers-Prashant Waydande and Satish Bate-as they thought the latter were clicking pictures of bikers who were doing stunts nearby.

The accused were traced on the basis of photos clicked by the photographers. The police said that locals from the nearby slum pocket joined the bikers in assaulting the photographers.

Cops said Waydande and Bate were attacked with a paver block while Bate was assaulted with a belt. Then duo was taken to a civic-run hospital for treatment and discharged thereafter.

Waydande has told the police they were taking pictures of the 'Love Mumbai' installation at Reclamation when some people from the nearby slums came and started hurling abuses. "When we tried to reason with them, they started assaulting us," the photographers told the cops.
