T. Senthil Kumar has taken charge as the new Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) for Madurai city on Friday. He succeeds Jayanthi, who has swapped posting with Mr. Senthil Kumar who was hitherto Commandant of Tamil Nadu Special Police, Rajapalayam
A 2003-batch Deputy Superintendent of Police, Mr. Senthil Kumar has served in various districts as DSP before getting promoted as Additional Superintendent of Police.
He got accelerated promotion for his role in nabbing two terror suspects, Bilal Malik and Panna Ismail, in a police operation at Puttur in Andhra Pradesh in 2013.
He has served as Deputy Commissioner of Police in Flower Bazaar in Chennai and Superintendent of Police, Thanjavur.
A postgraduate in Law, Mr. Senthil Kumar has done his doctorate on “Black Town - George Town, through the ages”.
He said that his focus area would be on crime prevention and detection.
