Youth to face murder charge as elderly man dies after attack
Viraj Deshpande | TNN | Feb 16, 2019, 03:38 ISTNagpur: Five days after Jaripatka police arrested a 25-year-old for assaulting an elderly man, cops have now booked the accused for murder as the complainant succumbed to the injuries on Friday during treatment.
John Jornas, 52, was assaulted by Pal alias Raja Bestil on Sunday after he asked the latter to stop hurling abuses. Raja, a resident of Jaripatka, was creating ruckus in front of John’s house when he asked the accused to go away. However, Raja thrashed John who was taken to Mayo hospital where he was declared brain-dead.
However, John was on ventilator till Friday and succumbed during treatment.
Police had arrested Raja on Sunday and had taken a PCR till Wednesday. He was then sent to magisterial custody by court. Raja is currently lodged at Nagpur Central Jail.
It is also learnt that family members of John had decided to donate his organs.
