Burglars break into Madurai eatery, escape with cash

MADURAI: Two incidents of thefts were reported from different parts of Madurai city on Friday morning.
Burglars broke into an eatery and escaped with Rs 15,000 in cash and cigarettes worth several thousand rupees.
L Balasubramaniam of Sellur runs the eatery on the Jampropuram Main Road. Burglars entered the eatery by making a hole through the roof. The Tallakulam police registered a case.
In another incident, miscreants stole a two-wheeler parked in the West Masi Street near Madurai Meenakshi temple. The two-wheeler belonged to K Kamaraj of Narayanapuram. Though the incident happened on February 11, Kamaraj filed a complaint with the South Gate police on Friday.
