White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders announced that President Donald Trump will sign a government funding bill if it passes through Congress.
But he will also declare a national emergency in order to address "national security" at the border.
The announcement came just before news that the Senate has passed the government funding bill .
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell took the floor before the vote in order to announce news from a recent discussion he had with the President.
McConnell said: "I would say to all my colleagues as indicated, he's prepared to sign the bill.
He will also be issuing a national emergency declaration at the same time." Declaring a national emergency will allow President Trump to circumvent Congress in order to fund the border wall he has continually called for.
The bill now heads to the House for a vote before it will reach the President's desk for his signature.
