Dad 1, teachers 0: The simple sandwich trick that fooled a boy's teachers into thinking he had the required packed lunch at school

  • A dad has revealed his unique hack for dealing with uneaten school lunches
  • His solution involves creating an optical illusion in the form of a sandwich
  • The hack worked so well even his son's teacher's believed the sandwich was real

A dad fed up with wasting food every day has revealed how he tricked his 12-year-old son's teachers into believing he had the required packed lunch at school.

'He wasn't eating them because he wasn't hungry really, ' Renzo Scarparo, from Western Australia, told FEMAIL.

'He'd rather play games with his friends, design board games, go to the library - just all the fun stuff while he's not sitting in class having lessons.'

The solution to his problem was to create 'an optical illusion' in the form of a fake sandwich.

'The photo idea came to me because my wife said I couldn't cut up a couple of sponges in order to give the illusion of a sandwich,' the enthusiastic father said.

The four-step hack involved taking a photo of an uneaten sandwich, printing it out, and cutting it to shape. The photo was then taped to the bottom of a lunchbox lid before the lunchbox was reassembled.

'My son did a double take when I showed him his "lunch" and thought it was pretty funny. He asked if he could actually take it to school.'

Even his son's teacher was fooled by the optical illusion, though once the truth was uncovered the pair had a good laugh.

'He showed his teacher the top of his lunch box and she looked and said "okay - that's good"... then he couldn't resist and showed her the empty box.'

The doting dad insists while his son can be a picky eater, he never goes hungry and as a precautionary measure now packs a smaller sandwich or wrap 'just in case'.

'I'm expecting to have them come back home with him but at least it's there for him,' he said.
