Scooterist crushed to death by bus on Amroli Tapi bridge
TNN | Feb 15, 2019, 04:00 ISTSurat: A man was crushed under a city bus on Amroli Tapi bridge late evening on Wednesday. The man, who was riding a scooter, was hit by another two-wheeler. He fell on the road and his head got crushed by the wheels of a bus coming from behind. Police have arrested the driver.
According to Katargam police, Sakarlal Rajput (58) of Chaprabhatha in Amroli was returning home on his scooter at around 10pm when the accident occurred on Amroli Tapi bridge.
At that time of the day, there is heavy traffic on Amroli bridge. So, vehicles find little space to move. While crossing the bridge, Rajput must have been hit by another vehicle or momentarily lost balance of his scooter. As a result, he fell off his vehicle.
In traffic, the rear tyre of the city bus behind him crushed his head. Rajput, who was severely injured, died on the spot. Soon, a commotion followed.
The bus driver, scared of public wrath, left his vehicle on the spot and fled. He was brought to the police station only on Thursday evening.
Police have registered a case of causing death by negligence against driver Dilip Rathwa, who hails from Chota Udaipur.
