The Vasco police in south Goa on Wednesday booked a Navy officer for allegedly molesting his maid.
The police took the action after the woman lodged a complaint against Commodore Manikandan Nambiar, 46, Naval officer, second in-command at the INS Hansa naval base.
The incident allegedly took place on Tuesday evening.
A police spokesperson said the accused had been booked under Section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Indian Penal Code.
“The victim has accused him of molesting her at his residence. (Commodore) Nambiar has now filed for anticipatory bail,” the spokesperson said.
Sources in the Vasco police station said Commodore Nambiar fell unconscious when he was being questioned. He was later shifted to a local hospital for treatment.
