Ashtadhatu idol seized, 3 arrested
tnn | Feb 15, 2019, 05:00 ISTGorakhpur: The Sant Kabir Nagar Police on Thursday seized an ashtadhatu idol worth Rs 20 lakh in the international market and arrested three persons.
The police also recovered a motorcycle, cash amount of Rs 2,000 from their possession.
The arrested include Nandlal of Saket Nagar Gorakhpur, Sunil Pal of Saket Nagar Gorakhpur and Rahul Das of Chapra Bihar.
The accused were booked under Section 419 (punishment for cheating by personation), 420(cheating and dishonestly including delivery of property), 467(forgery of valuable forgery for purpose of cheating 471(using a gegenuine or forge receiving stolen property) of IPC.
“Acting on a tip off, the police arrested three persons while they were planning to sell the ashtadhatu idol to a forign tourist near Kabir Nirvana Sthali in Maghar. The bike used bu the accused had a fake number plate,” said SP Sant Kabir Nagar Akash Tomar. tnn
