“The Mi 9 smartphone is slated to launch on February 20th with a special Wang Yuan edition protective case cover”
Xiaomi’s next-generation flagship smartphone Mi 9 is all set to break covers on February 20th at an event in China. The phone will later make its international debut at the tech extravaganza MWC 2019 in Barcelona, Spain. Ahead of that, the company has shared a new teaser on Twitter hinting at Mi 9’s triple rear cameras, which is something we already know – owing to a recent leak.
The teaser has further revealed that the Xiaomi Mi 9 smartphone’s camera module could pack a normal, a depth sensor, and an ultra-wide angle lens. Xiaomi is yet to confirm the resolutions, but rumours are it could come with an impressive 48-megapixel Sony Quad Bayer primary sensor.
Moreover, the handset will be accompanied by a special edition Wang Yuan protective case. The singer from China is also known as Roy Yuan, and as per Time magazine, is among the world’s most influential teenagers. The special case cover comes in a calm mint green colour and a rough strap on the rear panel. The missing fingerprint sensor on the back is a further indication that it could be on the front – embedded on the handset’s display.
Talking about its specifications, the Mi 9 is expected to be powered by nothing short than Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset. The SoC may be paired with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. It’ll reportedly come with a 6.4-inch dewdrop notch display with Full HD+ resolution. A 3,500mAh battery with 27W fast charging tech is likely to fuel the device. As for the price, the flagship Mi 9 smartphone is rumoured to start at 2,999 yuan that roughly translates to Rs 31,335 in the Indian currency. We’ll have confirmation on that and other such details when the device will go official next Thursday. Interestingly, it’s the same day when Samsung will take the wraps off its premium Galaxy S10 lineup.
