Mini sports complex at Parli school to be upgraded as sports academy

The government is planing to upgrade the mini sports complex coming up at the Government Higher Secondary School at Parli to the status of a sports academy, Sports Minister E.P. Jayarajan announced on Thursday while launching the work on the project.

Mr. Jayarajan also inaugurated the construction work of a sports complex at the Government College at Chittur. Addressing a gathering, he said the two projects were part of the ambitious mission to ensure Kerala’s representation in the Indian Olympic contingent.

Jobs

Stating that the government was committed to extending all support to excelling sports personalities, the Minister said those who figured on the rank list of sports job quota would be given appointments without delay. He announced that M.D. Thara, and V.V. Sobha, both alumni of the Parli school, would be given jobs through the sports quota.

Mr. Jayarajan later inaugurated the work on the ₹14.35-crore sports complex at the Chittur college. The complex will have a football ground of international standards, multipurpose courts, one basketball court, and a swimming pool.

Both the projects will be completed within a year.
