Distribution of first volume in all schools will be completed by April 15

Thousands of students across the State will get their textbooks for the next academic year well in advance. The government-owned Kerala Books and Publications Society (KBPS) has completed the printing of the first volume of the textbooks for classes 6 to 10.

K. Karthick, Managing Director, KBPS, inaugurated the State-level distribution of newly printed textbooks at a function at SRV Government Upper Primary School School here on Thursday.

The distribution of the first volume of textbooks in all schools will be completed by April 15. The distribution of the second volume will be over by August 30 and the third by November. The printing started in December owing to technical reasons. But the printing could be completed without delay, according to an official release quoting him on Thursday.

The KBPS had received orders worth 3.25 crore (first volume), 1.29 crore (second) and 49 lakh (for the third volume) from the Education Department. The printing of textbooks for classes 1 to 5 has been complete. The authorities claimed that high-quality paper was used for the printing of textbooks.

The society has undertaken the distribution of textbooks in schools across 14 districts. It will be distributed in about 12,000 schools through a distribution network of 3,300 societies. Unaided schools will get the textbooks from the distribution centre being set up in each district.

The release said that it was for the second time under the present government that the printing and distribution of textbooks had been completed before the start of a new academic year.
