BJP president Amit Shah will meet weavers and address party members in charge of booth committees across four districts at Chithode on Thursday.
Addressing mediapersons, BJP State general secretary Vanathi Srinivasan said he will meet party members from the Erode, Salem, Namakkal and Karur Lok Sabha constituencies to discuss preparations for the ensuing elections.
Mr. Shah’s visit assumes significance as negotiations among parties are currently under way to forge an alliance for the Lok Sabha polls.
Centre’s schemes
Mr. Shah will meet weavers at Tex Valley in Chithode, where he will highlight the schemes being implemented by the Centre for the textile industry.
Asked about MDMK general secretary Vaiko staging black flag demonstrations whenever Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the State, Ms. Srinivasan said Mr. Vaiko was losing respect. “He has now become the leader of small political committees and is nearing [the end of] his political career,” she said.
