Harden’s 42 goes in vain

James Harden extended his streak of scoring at least 30 points in a game to 31, but it ended in defeat for the Houston Rockets this time against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Harden’s 42 wasn’t enough as Jeff Teague scored 27 and Karl-Anthony Towns made 25 in T-Wolves 121-111 victory.

Harden’s run sees him tied with Wilt Chamberlain for the second longest 30-point plus streak in NBA history.

Spurs surge to 3-0 victory over Dortmund

Tottenham Hotspur scored thrice through goals from Son Heung-min, Jan Vertonghen and Fernando Llorente in the second half to register a convincing 3-0 win over Borussia Dortmund in the first leg of their Champions League Round of 16 match.

The other game on Wednesday saw Real Madrid defeat hosts Ajax 2-1, thanks to some assistance from VAR. Ajax had a goal disallowed in the first half of the game by VAR – the first time the video assistant referee had overturned a Champions League goal.
