Ex-Armyman, 75, killed in hit-and-run

Picture used for representational purpose onlyAMBALA: A 75-year-old ex-serviceman, Om Prakash of Baldev Nagar, has been crushed to death by a Haryana roadways' bus on Ambala-Chandigarh road. The district police have registered a case of death by negligence under Section 279 and 304-A of the Indian Penal Code at the Baldev Nagar police station on the complaint of the grandson of the deceased, Mohit.
The deceased was coming from Ambala Cantonment. When he reached near Baldev Nagar on Ambala-Chandigarh road, a bus hit his cycle and fled the spot.
"I was with my grandfather on a separate cycle. The bus came from behind and crushed him. The driver stopped the bus at some distance. After seeing the injuries of my grandfather, he fled the spot. The registration number of the bus is HR37C6866," the complainant told cops.
Nikhil, who rushed the injured to a nearby hospital, said, "When I saw a man lying injured on the road, I immediately called emergency number 108 and ambulance control room at 7027846102, but nobody answered for 20 minutes. I called some of my colleagues from my office, which is nearby, and we rushed the injured to Ambala City Civil Hospital in our car where he succumbed to his injuries." TNN
