Traffic chaos at Burnley Tunnel after man ploughs into several cars

A crash allegedly involving a stolen car near the Kings Way entry ramp into the Burnley Tunnel has sparked peak hour traffic chaos.

The entry ramp remains closed after a man believed to be driving a stolen car ploughed into several other vehicles.

Police said the man, believed to be aged in his 20s, allegedly ploughed into a number of cars near the Kings Way entry ramp just after 3pm.

Emergency services remain at the scene.

Several vehicles remain banked up near the entry to the tunnel with motorists advised to use Montague Street to enter the tunnel.

The man was taken to hospital with unrelated injuries, but no one else was injured in the incident.

The man remains under police guard in hospital.
