Woman, 54, is bound, gagged and sexually assaulted in her own home 'by a stalker who filmed her in the days leading up to the sickening attack'

- He was charged and then following a home search was given additional charges
- The man appeared was denied bail to reappear on April 9
A man who allegedly bound, gagged and sexually assaulted a woman in a sickening attack in her own home has been charged.
The 54-year-old woman told police she arrived home in Tamworth, northeast New South Wales, about 11pm on Saturday when she was ambushed by the stranger.
Following the alleged sexual assault, the man then fled the scene on foot while the woman was treated by paramedics and taken to Tamworth Base Hospital.

Police were told a 58-year-old man repeatedly attempted to contact the woman in the days after the alleged sex attack.
Detectives questioned the man and searched his phone, allegedly finding a number of videos of the woman taken outside her home without her knowledge.

He was charged with two counts of filming a person in a private act in circumstances of aggravation, two counts of peeping or prying, and stalking/intimidating with intent to cause fear or physical harm.
Another home was also searched were several items were seized relevant to the investigation.
The man was then given three additional charges of aggravated sexual assault following further inquiries.
He was refused bail and appeared at Tamworth Local Court on Tuesday and was refused bail to re-appear at the same court on April 9.
