Leader of the Opposition Ramesh Chennithala has said that the Congress will not forgive the party that killed Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) worker Abdul Shukkoor and Congress worker S.V. Shuhaib.
Addressing a public meeting at Mattannur here on Wednesday to mark the first anniversary of the murder of Shuhaib, Youth Congress worker who had been hacked to death at Edayannur, near Mattannur, by alleged Communist Party of India (Marxist) workers, Mr. Chennithala said that CPI(M) workers were destroying the rule of the law in the State.
On CBI probe
Referring to the CPI(M)’s stand that the framing of criminal conspiracy charge against its leaders P. Jayarajan and T.V. Rajesh, MLA, was the latest example of the misuse of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) against political rivals of the party ruling at the Centre, Mr. Chennithala said that the CPI(M) had supported the CBI probe against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
He said the United Democratic Front (UDF) would win over 16 seats in the next Lok Sabha elections.
Safeguarding criminals
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan was safeguarding criminals, he said, adding that he would be the last communist Chief Minister in India.
