MYSURU: Mysuru tahsildar T Ramesh Babu has registered a complaint with city cybercrime police against an RTI activist for uploading the audio recording of his official conversation with a colleague on social media platforms. Babu has also demanded action against his office staff who are involved in the crime.
In his complaint to the inspector of cybercrime branch in Ashokapuram on Tuesday, tahasildar Babu stated that RTI activist B N Nagendra uploaded the audio clipping of his telephone conversation with KAS officer Renukumar on social media.

Renukumar was transferred to Mysuru as tahsildar of Mysuru taluk, but is yet to assume charge.

Babu said his mobile has an inbuilt voice recorder app. The conversation between him and Renukumar was recorded and while deleting the conversation he accidently sent the voice recording to the the official taluk office WhatsApp group named ‘My Team’.

“I tried deleting the voice recording from the group immediately. But instead of pressing ‘delete for everyone’ option, I accidently pressed ‘delete for me’ option. The voice record was deleted from my mobile, instead from the group. The employees who are members of the group should have deleted the official conversation. But some of our staff, who had colluded with the RTI activist, forwarded the voice recording to him,” Babu said in the complaint.

Babu said Nagendra, who was facing criminal charges, was trying to tarnish his image. “Without permission from taluk magistrate, no official messages should be forwarded to any person or social media. But Nagendra, who used to blackmail the staff and extort money from them, has uploaded the voice recording. I request police to verify the details, the social media groups where he uploaded the voice recording and trace the taluk employees who had colluded with the RTI activist and file criminal case against them,” he requested in his complaint.

Speaking to TOI, tahsildar Babu said Nagendra had also shared the voice recording with an electronic media reporter.

The cybercrime cops have registered an FIR in this regard.
