Vadodara: The hard work of students of the M S University (MSU) Polytechnic for the annual event ‘Techkshetra’ went down the drain with miscreants damaging the installations and decoration made for the event at the campus.
The incident took place in the early hours after those working on decking up the campus left.
Sources said that the students had been working on the decoration till well past midnight. They returned to the campus early on Wednesday morning only to find that some miscreants had vandalised the installations, gate and other decoration that was handmade by the students. Some material was also thrown into the storm water drain that passes near the polytechnic campus.
Officials, MSU security personnel and student leaders rushed to the polytechnic in wake of the incident. The organisers even approached the police with a complaint regarding the incident.
It is believed that schisms amongst students may be responsible for the event. Those opposing the group that was holding the event may be responsible for the act. The complaint filed with the city police also suspects that students of the polytechnic may be behind the act.
The three-day event is to kick off on February 15. The students have started efforts to deck up the campus again at a short notice. A variety of technical and non-technical events will be held during the three days.
