Wild elephant damages bonnet, windshield of car
TNN | Feb 14, 2019, 00:43 ISTCoimbatore: A wild elephant damaged the bonnet and windshield of a car while crossing Annaikatti-Coimbatore Road on the outskirts of the city on Tuesday night.
G Selvaraj, 55, of Mettupalayam, was returning to Coimbatore from Mannarkad in Kerala in his car on Tuesday.
When he reached Thomanur Pirivu around 9.15pm, he spotted a wild elephant crossing the road.
A forest officer said, “Subsequently, Selvaraj stopped the car and waited for the elephant to cross the road. Disturbed by the headlight and noise of the car’s engine, the elephant came towards the car and damaged the bonnet and windshield of the vehicle with its trunk.”
As soon as the elephant moved into the forest a few minutes later, Slevaraj abandoned his car and ran towards, Anaikatti, where he managed to get a lift in a van and reached his house in Mettupalayam, the officer said.
On Wednesday morning, Selvaraj’s son came to the spot and drove the car to Mettupalayam.
