UP Board exams: Over 2 lakh students skip Hindi paper

ALLAHABAD: In the Hindi-belt, around 2.63 lakh students skipped the Hindi question paper of class X and XII conducted by Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Board (UPSEB) exams on Tuesday. At least 51 examinees were caught using unfair means while FIRs were lodged against six impostors.

Hindi was the first important paper on the third day of the exams, started on February 7. With this, the total number of drop outs increased to 3,12,844.


At least 2,09,383 of the total absent students belong to high school were slated to give Elementary Hindi exams only while remaining 54,367 drop outs were from intermediate, said Shivlal, additional secretary, UPSEB.


Hardoi attained the dubious distinction of topping the list of absentee students with 15,892 students skipping the exams, Azamgarh with 12,285 dropouts and Prayagraj (9581) came second and third in the state. Jaunpur (9313) and Aligarh (8577) were fourth and fifth in the state said board officials.


Majority of the students had left the exams in the sensitive and most sensitive centres following their past history of rampant mass copying and attacks on flying squads. There are 1,314 Sensitive centres and 448 most sensitive centres in the state.
