Marginal increase in number of electors in draft rolls: Dana Kishore

The final electoral list for the three parliamentary constituencies in Hyderabad district with respect to the ensuing Lok Sabha polls will be declared on February 22, District Election Officer (DEO) and GHMC Commissioner M. Dana Kishore said on Tuesday.

After recent additions and deletions from voters’ list, the number of electors in draft rolls has marginally increased for Hyderabad and Secunderabad constituencies and Secunderabad Cantonment, part of Malkajgiri constituency, he said during a meeting with police, returning officers (ROs) and assistant returning officers (AROs).

The Hyderabad parliamentary constituency comprises Malakpet, Karwan, Goshamahal, Charminar, Chandrayangutta, Yakutpura and Bahadurpura assembly segments, while Secunderabad will have Musheerabad, Amberpet, Khairatabad, Jubilee Hills, Sanatnagar, Nampally and Secunderabad assembly segments.

The number of electors in Secunderabad constituency stood at 19,14,954 from 18,90,075 by February 10. A total of 36,434 voters were included and 11,555 deleted. Maximum enrolments, at 7,412, were from Sanathnagar segment, while maximum deletions in Jubilee Hills, at 3,617.

In Hyderabad, the number increased from 19,27,685 to 19,32,926 voters, with 30,979 enrolments and 25,738 deletions. Maximum enrolments were in Bahadurpura Assembly segment at 7,878, and maximum deletions in Chandrayangutta at 7,140. In Secunderabad Cantonment, 5,109 voters enrolled while 1,124 were deleted, taking the total to 2,43,713 voters.

On the whole, the number of voters in the two constituencies and part of Malkajgiri falling into Hyderabad district has risen from 40,57,488 on December 26, 2018, to 40,91,593 by February 10 this year. A total of 72,522 voters were added afresh and 38,417 deleted.

After rationalisation, the number of polling stations has increased to 1,809 in Secunderabad. In Hyderabad, the number has gone up to 1,935, while in Secunderabad Cantonment segment, the number has gone up by 150, to be 3,976.

A total of 1,404 critical polling stations and 552 critical polling station locations have been identified, Dana Kishore informed.

Government officials, who have had completed three successive years in the city before May 31, 2019, and those native to Hyderabad, will not be deployed on polling duties, he said. District Collector and Joint Collector will be the Returning Officer designates for Hyderabad and Secunderabad constituencies respectively, while officers of the ranks of Zonal Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners and RDOs, will be AROs.
