The Opposition Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday sought to define the episode of Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy allegedly getting the conversation between the BJP leaders and son of a JD(S) MLA recorded through the latter as “illegal telephone tapping.” They argued that the Chief Minister himself was the first accused in the episode of releasing the controversial audio clip.
“Getting private conversations recorded is equivalent of tapping the phone,” BJP leader Jagadish Shettar said. Leader of the Opposition B.S. Yeddyurappa alleged that the Chief Minister was the “main accused” as he had allegedly fabricated the audio clip and tried to spread false content as truth.
Meanwhile, Speaker K.R. Ramesh Kumar said there was a difference between tapping phones and recording a conversation.
