Love wounds: In-laws attack man with sword

AHMEDABAD: A 27-year-old man was attacked by his in-laws, who unhappy at their daughter marrying him for love, in the Sabarmati area of the city.
Surindersingh Bhatti, a resident of Sundaram Complex near Jawahar Chowk in Sabarmati, in his FIR to Chandkheda police stated that he was in relationship with Manisha Tushawada for six years. On February 5, 2018, Bhatti married Tushawada at a court in the Gheekanta area of the city.
After they registered their marriage, Tushawada continued living at her place. Bhatti’s parents readily accepted her as their daughter-in-law, the FIR states.
Bhatti’s parents even told Tushawada’s parents that that they should accept their children’s decision and organize a grand wedding. However, Tushawada’s parents were unwilling to accept the marriage. On Monday evening, Tushawada called Bhatti and told him that her father and grandfather were beating, and asked him to rescue her. Bhatti then rushed to her place in Sabarmati and found her grandfather and father hitting her badly. When Bhatti intervened, and told them not to hit a woman, it made Tushawada’s father and grandfather even more angry. They then started hitting Bhatti. Her grandfather took out a sword and struck Bhatti with it. Bhatti suffered severe cuts on his left ear, the left side of his head and left thumb, the FIR states. Bhatti was rescued by his friend, who had accompanied him to Tushawada’s house.
