Parts of DLF 3 get no water, power; builder blames illegal connections
TNN | Feb 13, 2019, 08:15 ISTGurgaon: Residents of some parts of DLF 3 are reeling from an acute water shortage and intermittent power cuts. No water has been supplied to parts of U-Block for the last four days, forcing them to rely on private water tankers which charge exorbitant prices, residents said.
Adding to their woes, many areas also witnessed power outages on Tuesday, due to which pumps used to draw water couldn’t work either. “We’ve had almost no water supply since Friday. We’ve raised the matter with the developer DLF continuously, but to no avail,” said Prantik, a resident of U-Block.
Meanwhile, HSVP officials said supply to the area was normal. Residents, while admitting this fact, said it was the distribution system that was to blame.
The colony’s T-Block also witnessed several power cuts on Tuesday. “Outages kept recurring during the first half of the day. As we use geysers in the morning and also cook food, power supply should be consistent at least in the morning,” said Poonam Mehra, a resident. Meanwhile, the discom said there was some local disruption in power supply, which was immediately corrected.
The developer blamed illegal construction in the colony’s EWS blocks for the problems. “Most construction in V-, U- and S-blocks, which are meant for EWS, is unauthorised. As the property owners in these areas rent out their houses to people working nearby, one plot has more water connections than is permitted. While supply is not much of a problem in other blocks, these areas put an enormous strain on supply. Residents can report inadequate supply to us,” a DLF official told TOI.
