Taking a serious note of the waste disposal issue grappling the Kanjirapally grama panchayat, the Kerala State Commission for Minorities has directed the local body to restore its biogas plant unit at the town hall on a priority basis.
Considering a complaint, commission member Bindu M. Thomas on Tuesday issued an order to this effect to the secretary of the local body. The ₹30-lakh project commissioned in 2013, has been lying dormant for the past couple of years.
Upgradation proposal
Meanwhile, the commission forwarded a proposal to upgrade the Erattupetta primary health centres to a taluk hospital for the active consideration of the State government.
According to the commission member, the upgrade of the health care facility will benefit the residents of as many as eight local bodies in the hill region.
The commission decided to intervene in the issue considering that about 88% of the residents in the region belonged to minority communities.
During the sitting on Tuesday, the commission settled as many as eight complaints received while the remaining 10 petitions will be dealt with during its next sitting here on April 10.
