The Trombay police have arrested a 37-year-old man for allegedly stabbing his crime accomplice anticipating that his friend was being dishonest to him and not giving him his share of the money after pickpocketing people. The accused identified as Anwar Miya Shaikh was arrested on Monday night after he stabbed the deceased Fakir Mohammed alias Sarfaraz multiple times after which he died due to heart failure.
According to the police, Shaikh and Sarfaraz knew each other since a long time and they together had served jail sentence at Pune for being found guilty under petty criminal offences like robbery, pickpocketing and other similar crimes. The duo had many offences registered against them at Bund Garden and Swar Gate police stations respectively.
After coming out of jail, the duo returned to Mumbai. While Sarfaraz had decided to mend his ways and decided to keep a distance from Shaikh, Shaikh thought that he was being cheated and Sarfaraz was executing the offences all alone thereby not giving him any of his share which he rightfully deserved.
"On Monday evening, while Sarfaraz was seated with his wife outside his Trombay residence, enraged Shaikh approached him and stabbed him with a knife which he was carrying," said senior police inspector of Trombay police station, Prakash Salvi. After Shaikh was arrested he was booked under section 302, 504, 506(2) and 323 of the Indian Penal Code and was later sent to police custody till February 18.
