Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday lauded former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for the "precise" prediction concerning the "damage" caused by demonetisation, saying it was better than any other economist.
"Manmohan Singhji, who in his economic wisdom saw 2 per cent damage by demonetisation... I don't know what mathematics he did, what calculations he did, but it turned out that it was the most precise, better than pretty much any other economist, so we thank him for that," Gandhi said.
Gandhi also made a special mention of party leader in the Lok Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge, who, he said, "fought great odds to give some terrific speeches".
He said that Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad and party's deputy leader in Rajya Sabha Anand Sharma "gave some very good speeches".
He also lauded other party members for their role in the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha. The last session of the 16th Lok Sabha concluded on Wednesday.
The meeting was attended by UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, besides Manmohan Singh, Azad, Kharge and Sharma.
