PIMPRI: Retired employees of Hindustan Antibiotics (HA) Limited held protests here on Tuesday to demand payment of Rs 50 crore dues of 250 retired persons.

A large number of HA retired employees participated in the demonstrations held at the gate of the public undertaking.

They were led by Hindustan Antibiotics Retired Employees Association President DL Achrekar.

The retired employees have not been paid arrears of the wage agreement signed in 2009.

Of the total 250 retired employees, 30 persons have died without receiving their dues from the public undertaking.

KK Lonkar, a member of the employees union, said the retired employees are depending on the meagre pension amount received from their Provident Fund accounts.

The HA pensioners recently approached the labour commissioner to demand payment of the pending gratuity amounts. The labour commissioner asked the district collector to secure the gratuity amount from the company. However, the retired employees are yet to get their dues.

The Union government issued tenders for the sale of the Hindustan Antibiotic’s land in 2008, 2013, 2017 and 2018 to make the employees’ due payment.

Only government establishments were eligible to purchase the land. They have however not responded for purchasing the land.
