German Team Will Enter FIA’s ‘Hypercar’ Class With Bespoke Racer

German outfit ByKolles Racing has published a rendering of the hypercar it intends on entering to the new FIA World Endurance Championship’s racing series designed to replace LMP1.

SportsCar365 reports that the German racing team will build a hypercar from scratch to compete in the new series. ByKolles Racing currently competes in LMP1 with its Nismo-powered ENSO CLM P1/01 prototype.

ByKolles Racing team principal Manfredi Ravetto said the team wants to unveil the hypercar at next year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans before the new ‘hypercar’ class of racing kicks off in mid-2020. ByKolles is the second company to release an image of the vehicle it intends on using for the much-anticipated championship. Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus was the first when it published a single rendering of the SCG 007 LMP1 in July 2018.

“We are totally confident about the ‘Hypercar’ concept. The FIA and the ACO will achieve their goals because it is the right concept for the future of endurance racing and the best platform for independent teams to become constructors.”

It remains to be seen what will power the ByKolles Racing hypercar, as rules stipulate that all entrants must utilize a hybrid powertrain.

A number of companies have expressed interest in the hypercar championship, including ORECA, Toyota, McLaren, Aston Martin, Ford, Ferrari, and Koenigsegg but at this stage, it remains to be seen how many of these will enter the championship. With that being said, Aston Martin appears intent on creating a version of its ‘son of Valkyrie’ hypercar to compete for an outright victory at Le Mans.
