Gurgaon: Deputy commissioner Vinay Pratap Singh was transferred to chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar’s constituency Karnak as deputy commissioner on Tuesday. The 2011-batch IAS officer had a rather long stint in Gurgaon. He had earlier been appointed as the additional deputy commissioner when the BJP government came to power for the first time in the state in October 2014. In all, he has been in Gurgaon for close to four-and-half years, unusual for a bureaucrat. He might have managed to be around for some more time had it not been for the impending Lok Sabha and state elections, sources said.

Singh is being replaced by his batchmate Amit Khatri, who just conducted a successful bypoll in Jind. Khatri is not entirely new to Gurgaon — he has earlier served as MCG additional commissioner. A total of 15 IAS officers were transferred on Tuesday. tnn
