Cop booked for assault bid on girl in train
TNN | Feb 13, 2019, 23:38 ISTThiruvananthapuram: A policeman, who allegedly molested a 15-year-old girl during a train journey, continued to evade the police two weeks after the incident. Police are trying to locate civil police officer Dilshad, who was attached to the vigilance special cell office at Thekkummood near Pattom.
According to railway police, Dilshad allegedly touched the girl inappropriately during a train journey from Kozhikode to Thiruvananthapuram. She was sleeping in the middle berth while he was lying on the topmost berth. The girl woke up and raised an alarm. After the train reached Thiruvananthapuram Central station, the girl – accompanied by her mother – filed a complaint with the railway police.
The case is now being probed by Kollam railway police as the alleged crime took place when the train reached somewhere near Sasthamcotta. The day after the incident, vigilance and anti-corruption bureau (VACB) placed him under suspension and cancelled his deputation. He was attached to the police headquarters.
“We acted as soon as we received the report from the railway police. We received the report on a Saturday and the suspension order was issued on Sunday itself,” said a VACB spokesperson.
