Mumbai: Nearly 100 Nationalist Congress Party activists stormed the Mumbai collector’s office shouting slogans and demanding jobs from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “Job do, job do, Modi sarkar jawab do” (give us jobs Modi government), when the police rushed to disperse the protesting NCP activists.
The NCP leaders wanted to lend a voice against the rising unemployment in the country. The leaders attacked the government over the recent National Sample Survey report. “The Modi government has forgotten the promise made for creating two crore jobs.
The NSSO report highlights the gross unemployment rate, which is the highest in the last 45 years. This is a historic lapse,” said Clyde Crasto, the NCP spokesperson. The NCP protestors started their protests from their party office at Ballard Pier and went shouting slogans to the Town Hall, where district collector’s office is situated.
Police rounded up the protesting men, women and office bearers of the party before they could even reach the Town Hall. These protests were carried out across the state, according to the orders of state chief, Jayant Patil. Mumbai leaders Advocate Nilesh Bhosale, Vyankatesh Manam, Famida Khanm Amit Hindlekar, Manoj Abreau and Clyde Crasto the state spokesperson.
