Govt shuffles IPS officers ahead of polls

Thiruvananthapuram: The state government on Wednesday initiated a shuffle of IPS officers, mainly at the SP level, ahead of the upcoming general elections.

Incumbent DIG (security) A Akbar has been appointed as DIG (intelligence) in the existing vacancy. Palakkad SP Debesh Kumar Behera will be in charge of KAP battalion 2 at Palakkad, while crime branch SP Sabu P S will be the new Palakkad SP. Kasaragod SP A Srinivas will be SP, crime branch, in charge of Kannur and Kasaragod districts, whereas present Kozhikode deputy commissioner James Joseph will be the new Kasaragod SP.


SP (Kozhikode rural) G Jayadev has been appointed the Pathanamthitta SP, as the incumbent Pathanamthitta SP T Narayanan has been appointed as AIG (headquarters). KAP-3 (Adoor) commandant K G Simon will be SP, Kollam rural, while the incumbent B Ashokan will move to Thiruvananthapuram rural. Thiruvananthapuram rural SP A Asok Kumar has been appointed as AIG (public grievances and legal affairs) at the police headquarters.


KAP-5 (Kuttikkanam) commandant Karthikeyan Gokulachandran will move to KAP-3 at Adoor, while Malabar Special Police commandant U Abdul Kareem will be the new Kozhikode rural SP. A K Jamaludheen, presently heading the anti-terrorist force, has been appointed Kozhikode city deputy commissioner.
