Lion pride kills 66 goats in Veraval village
TNN | Feb 12, 2019, 04:00 ISTRajkot: A pride lions killed 66 goats and one sheep in Dari village of Veraval taluka in Gir Somnath district on Sunday night. This incident triggered panic among the villagers about the safety of their livestock which is their livelihood and only source of income.
According to forest department, a shepherd Jiva Chavda had kept his herd in the orchard of Dhiru Solanki. About five lions attacked the heard on Sunday night and killed goats and sheep, said Sunil Berwal, deputy conservator of forest (DCF), Junagadh.
A pride of lions had preyed on cows in another orchard of a farmer from the same village a week before. The villagers are now scared with wild animal frequenting the village. They have asked the forest officials for help.
