The agreement for a second summit between Donald Trump and Kim Jong-un was a “remarkable breakthrough” for peace negotiations on the Korean peninsula, President Moon Jae-in said on Monday, but he acknowledged that doubts remained over denuclearisation.

The U.S. President and North Korean leader are due to meet in Hanoi from February 27 to 28.

“For us, the era of peace and prosperity on the peninsula has drawn closer,” said Mr. Moon.

Mr. Moon also expressed gratitude to both Mr. Trump and Mr. Kim for their “unprecedented, bold diplomatic efforts”, saying they were “crossing a sea of deep mistrust”.
