PUNE: The prompt action taken by the personnel of the Khadak police station helped a couple from Kalyan, who had come here to attend a marriage ceremony, get back their ornaments worth Rs two lakh within 4 hours after they had forgotten the bag containing ornaments in an autorickshaw.

Amit Harish Javheri (35) had hired an autorickshaw at Pune station and got down on Shitladevi Chowk in Guruwar Peth on Saturday. He forgot the bag with jewellery, some documents and clothes in the autorickshaw.

He soon realised it and searched for the driver but in vain. He immediately went to nearby Mithganj police station and narrated the incident to Police Sub Inspector Mina Tadvi. She summoned beat marshall constables Vaibhav Bhosale and Nitin Durgude and instructed them to find the autorickshaw driver.

Senior Police Inspector Rajendra Mokashi, in-charge of Khadak police station, said, “The constables scanned the CCTV footages to check the registration number of the autorickshaw. After getting the number, they got the autorickshaw owner contact details from the RTO. The owner informed that he has given the autorickshaw to Rajendra Ghodke of Kondhwa for driving on a shift basis. The policemen went to Kondhwa and after taking the driver in confidence, they checked the autorickshaw and found the bag behind the backseat. We verified the ornaments ownership and handed them over to Javheri. All this was done in about four hours.”
