Man, 24, is electrocuted at a Sydney worksite after putting a metal pole against live electrical wires – as another employee suffers severe burns

A roofing contractor has died after being electrocuted at a factory southwest of Sydney.

Emergency services attending the work site about 2pm on Monday believe the man placed a metal pole against live electrical wires.

Five men were on the metal roof of the construction site at the time of the incident, with four men needing to be examined by paramedics.

New South Wales Fire and Rescue Services freed four of the men from the roof of the factory, while a 24-year-old remained, unable to be freed until the power was turned off because he was still holding the conductive metal pole.

Three of the four men saved and assessed by paramedics did not require further treatment, while one was taken to Liverpool Hospital.

He was treated with serious burns to his leg after trying to help his mate.

The 24-year-old was recovered after power to the building was disconnected, however, he was unable to be revived and pronounced dead at the scene.

The deceased contractor's family was seen at the factory a short time later. 

A crime scene has been established and Work Cover NSW officers will assist with police inquiries.

A report with be prepared for the Coroner.
