Australian cricket legend Shane Warne feels that the recent controversy around Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul’s comments on a TV chat show was “ridiculous”.

Pandya and Rahul appeared on popular TV show Koffee with Karan and talked about their sexual conquests. The duo’s comments were deemed to be misogynist and disrespectful. The players were subsequently dropped from the Indian side.

Warne, who took 708 Test wickets in a storied cricket career, feels that the reaction to Pandya and Rahul’s comments was ridiculous and players should be allowed the space to express themselves without inhibitions.

“…it’s all about political correctness these days. If a player steps out of line, everybody has an opinion and I thought that this particular thing was ridiculous. Just let them be”, the legendary leggie was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz in an interview.

Pandya has since made a successful return to the Indian side and was part of the recently concluded ODI and T20I series against New Zealand.

Rahul is currently part of the India A side that is playing England A at home.

Indian cricket team’s chief selector MSK Prasad has revealed that Rahul’s form is a cause of concern in the lead up to the upcoming 2019 World Cup in England.

“His (KL Rahul) form has become a big cause of concern. He is too good a player and I am sure he is working hard to be back among the runs,” Prasad told Times of India.

“We have put him in the India ‘A’ squad to play against the England Lions so that he can spend some time in the middle and get back in some form,” he added.
