Security tightened for PM Modi's visit to Kurukshetra

CHANDIGARH: Tight security arrangements have been made across the city in view of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit on Tuesday to the holy city of Kurukshetra for the Swach Shakti Conference.
Around 1,500 security personnel have been deployed in and around the city under the supervision of DGP K P Singh and ADGP law and order Mohd Akil.

Around 20,000 women delegates are expected to take part in the programme.


Women members of civic bodies, panchayat representatives and ASHA workers from across the country will assemble for PM Narendera Modi’s programme in Kurukshetra on Tuesday.


"The PM will discuss the role of women in Clean India Projects. This will be a new dimension towards the women empowerment," said Women and Child Welfare Minister Kavita Jain.


Jain said that PM will also give away awards to the outstanding women achievers of Swach Bharat Abhiyan.


The PM is also expected to lay the foundation stone of Rs 270 crore project of National University of Ayurveda in MDC complex of Panchkula through video conferencing. Besides, he will also inaugurate the Aarogya Dham, the Cancer research institute in Jhajjar through video conferencing.
