Saffron group to felicitate VC in big show of strength
TNN | Feb 12, 2019, 04:00 ISTVADODARA: The saffron group which enjoys majority in the senate and syndicate bodies of M S University have planned a show of strength on Monday.
This in the name of felicitation of MSU vice-chancellor (VC) professor Parimal Vyas, whom the state government recently appointed for a second term as VC.
Teaching and non-teaching staff members, senate and syndicate members, faculties deans and top officials have been invited for the event at professor C C Mehta auditorium on Tuesday evening,
“It is a matter of pride for us that the state government has re-appointed professor Parimal Vyas as MSU VC,” a message extending invitation to all on Sunday, read.
It is worth mentioning here that while the ruling saffron camp was lobbying with the state government for Vyas, its rival saffron camp of ‘sankalan samiti’ comprising of members backed by the BJP, the RSS and the ABVP, was lobbying hard to ensure that Vyas is not repeated as VC.
It was on February 5 that Gujarat government issued the notification regarding re-appointment of Vyas as VC. Vyas, who was already serving as VC since February 2016, has been re-appointed for a term of another three years.
