Teen drowns in Bhiwandi swimming pool

BHIWANDI: A 19-year-old youth, Farman Parvez Khan, drowned in a civic body-run swimming pool in Bhiwandi on Sunday afternoon. The victim, who had recently taken the Army recruitment exams, was a resident of Balajinagar area in Bhiwandi.
Khan, along with his three friends, had gone for a swim to Tawre stadium run by Bhiwandi-Nizampura Municipal Corporation.
Police said there were around 20 people in the pool when Khan's friends realized he was missing. They initially thought he was playing a prank, but when he failed to surface, they along with three lifeguards pulled him out and rushed him to hospital where he was declared dead.
